We are experienced, knowledgeable, creative.
We are conceptual thinkers. Fresh thinkers. Out of the box thinkers. We take the lead in our industry by never forgetting to be students of it. We are Creative types. Marketers. Bloggers. Newbies. Geeks. Tweeps.
And we’ve been through it all. The birth, boom, bust and resurgence of the Internet. Consumer packaged goods, consumer healthcare, we’ve kind of done it all. That’s not bragging. It’s just our experience.
So take a minute to meet us. We know you’ll believe in us too.
Revolution Digital began the way most revolutions begin
– from a shot heard round the world. Or, in our case, a shout heard in our offices.
Because once upon a time, we were known as DataPositive, an award-winning digital marketing and social media studio founded by our President, Mark Valva. Mark is a member of the founding family of DVC Worldwide, twice named Promotion Agency of the Year and Promotion Agency of the Decade in 2000. As the Executive Vice President of DVC Interactive, Mark pioneered the idea of using the Internet to promote clients’ brands and services. DataPositive was born from the best of DVCi. DataPositive went on to develop strategic and highly engaging programs for its clients, most notably winning Viral Promotion of the Year 2008 by PROMO Magazine.
But, for an agency, the name DataPositive does not say enough about what we do for our clients. So we looked at what we bring to our clients, what we want to do. We looked at the ever-changing, ever-growing, ever-evolving digital world and where we want to position ourselves in it. And Mark, in the way only Mark can, shouted the one word that speaks to our mission today, tomorrow, and always: revolution.
Husband. Wife. Owners. Innovators.
Revolution Digital is Mark and Shannon Valva's "first born", the perfect combination of his entrepreneurial genes and her creative talents. Their partnership goes back to Seton Hall University, where Mark encouraged Shannon to switch majors from pre-med to fine art. And Shannon returned the favor by helping Mark pass the advertising class they took together.
Since those early days, this team has never been afraid to dive in, learn, and lead in the industry. As husband and wife, Mark and Shannon went west to San Francisco during the dot.com "gold rush". They experienced first hand the beginning of the digital revolution, Shannon at Y&R and Mark at one of the day's premier interactive agencies, US Web/CKS.
When they returned home to the east coast, Mark rejoined the family business, DVC, one of the nation's premier interactive agencies, as GM of the New York office. And Shannon became a Creative Partner at Ogilvy & Mather. Their individual experiences honed their skills and talents. And planted the seed that they could "do it better".
In 2003, Mark's entrepreneurial instincts took hold and he decided to "go it alone". He knew he needed a dynamic creative leader – and who better than Shannon. The yin to his yang. (Or the beauty to his
beast!) Together with the very special people of Revolution Digital, Mark and Shannon have created an Agency that is truly unique in the marketplace. And must be experienced to fully understand what makes it so special. And revolutionary.
If you were taking a peek inside our offices, here’s what you would notice.
There’s a buzz in the air. Lots of chatter. Heads working together. Laughter. Familiarity and camaraderie. A roll-up-your-sleeves entrepreneurial spirit where titles don’t matter as much as getting the job done.
A place where agency best practices are taken seriously. Conference reports, creative briefs, agendas, are actually being done. The idea of what it means to service a client, and communicate with them, has not been lost here.
And it all feels so, I don’t know, balanced. Not out of whack. Not kooky for the sake of being kooky. Not too cool for our own selves. Not arrogant. Just very, very real.
You would say to yourself, these people like working together. They like what they do. They do what they have to do to get the best results. Could it be – they actually believe in what they do. And that is, in a word, revolutionary.
